SHIPPING AND DISTRIBUTION

With the largest bitumen ship fleet in the world and our network of onshore terminals and operations, we deliver bitumen on grade, on temperature and on time right across the globe.

The world’s bitumen ship fleet has an average vessel capacity of 7,000 dwt, conventionally serving regional localised demand. Puma Bitumen operates a bitumen fleet of 16 vessels, ranging in size from 6,000 to 37,000 dwt, giving us the agility and economies of scale to go further, successfully meeting the needs of what has truly become a dynamic global market.

OUR SHIPPING CAPABILITES

The safety and integrity of our fleet is of the utmost importance to us. We have invested significantly in vessels of the highest quality to ensure we deliver bitumen to you reliably and efficiently.

INDEPENDENT SELF-SUPPORTING CARGO TANKS

Our ship cargo tanks are built independently from the vessel structure, in line with the latest techniques and industry technology. This construction method drastically reduces heat transmission to the hull structure, thus allowing our vessels to load and maintain cargo temperatures with unparalleled levels of energy efficiency.

VESSEL CLASS NOTATION, IMO TYPE 2 (CHEMICAL)

Our ships are certified to transport chemicals with severe environmental and safety hazards and our fleet complies with significant safety and construction standards. This means we can safely carry chemical cargoes, such as coal tar pitch, creosote and coal tar naphtha solvent, next to bitumen and fuel oils.

CARGO SYSTEMS

Our ship cargo systems are equipped with the latest safety features, enabling them to operate at pressures of almost double today’s industry standard. Our fleet can discharge a full cargo in less than 24 hours with pumping rates ranging from 500 to 2,000 cubic metres per hour.

CREW AND MANAGEMENT

Our ship managers are bitumen ship specialists and have a long track record in the industry. Our experienced crews receive continuous training in accordance with the highest international standards. Regular crew rotation between our ships ensures their complete familiarity with our fleet and our customers’ operations.
