Puma Energy intend to establish a liquid coal tar pitch and bitumen transportation joint venture company

PFÄFFIKON, Switzerland and Singapore, 23 March 2018 - Gearbulk and Puma Energy today announce their intention to establish a permanent joint venture to perform liquid coal tar pitch, asphalt/bitumen, creosote and coal tar transportation contracts.

The parties have entered into a memorandum of understanding whereby they, subject, inter alia, to agreement on final commercial agreements, competition approvals (if any) and corporate approvals, will establish a joint venture company. The joint venture company will initially operate five liquid pitch and bitumen tankers on a full time basis.

The joint venture is designed to deliver a stronger business that will provide the best service possible to existing and new customers in the high heat shipping markets.  Taking advantage of Gearbulk's and Puma Energy’s areas of expertise will lead to economies of scale and access to a wider fleet of vessels for the defined markets that will improve the capability and quality of shipping services that can be provided.

Until the joint venture company starts its operations, Gearbulk and Puma Energy will continue to operate their respective liquid coal tar pitch and bitumen transportation businesses independently of each other, in strict compliance with anti-trust rules and regulations.
